George W. Pritzl, age 82, of Brillion, died on Wed., Oct. 22, 2008, at Garrow Villa in Brillion. He was born on Sept. 30, 1926, in Manitowoc, son of the late John and Lucille (Neff) Pritzl. He married Mildred Mae Becker on Jan. 29, 1957. George was born in Manitowoc and spent most of his youth in Park Falls. He moved to the area in 1952 and farmed in the Town of Brillion for 8 years and was a truck driver for 40 years. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion.
He is survived by his children: Robert Berkholtz, Arizona; Judith (Damien) Wilson, Madison; Audrey (Randall) Moore, Brillion; Mark (Jean) Pritzl, Brillion; Scott (Marlene) Pritzl, Elkhart Lake; David Patzer, New Berlin; his grandchildren: Erika Patalon, Rebecca Chapa, Jessica Trevisan, Richard Wilson, Tammy Wilson, William Sabel, Jeff Sabel, Nicholas, Thomas, and Lucas Pritzl, Calyn, Dean, Chase, and Alecia Patzer; five great grandchildren, and a lifetime friend Sonny Wagner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mildred on December 20, 1999, and two brothers Bernard and Glenn.
Mass of Christian burial will be Friday October 24, 2008, at noon at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion. Father Mathew Simonar will officiate. Burial will be at Knollwood Gardens Cemetery in Manitowoc. Friends may call at the church on Fri. from 10 a.m. until the time of mass. The Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion is assisting the Pritzl family with arrangements.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the entire staff at Garrow Villa and Affinity Hospice for their thoughtfulness and tender care given to George. Also thank you to the nurses and doctors at St. Elizabeth Hospital who cared for him.

RAPID CITY, SD Lance W. Becker, age 81, died at his home in Rapid City on March 4, 2005. He had been fighting lung cancer for more than a year.
Lance was born on a dairy farm near Brillion, Wisconsin, on July 10, 1923, to Henry and Emma (Ramberg) Becker. He graduated from Brillion High School and enlisted in the Maritime Service during World War II. He served as Purser / Pharmacist Mate in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters for two years.
Following release from the service, Lance went to New York City to study singing and met his future wife, Irma Ahola, who was studying with the same singing teacher. They were married in Virginia, Minnesota, on June 19, 1948. Their first home was in New York City where Lance attended the City College of New York and then Brooklyn College. In 1950 they moved to Minneapolis where Lance attended the University of Minnesota. He worked in sales for the Minneapolis Gas Company before taking a position with A.O.Smith Corporation in Chicago. During the time he lived in Minneapolis, three children were born. The family moved to Rapid City in 1966 when Lance became the A.O.Smith Regional manager for the area.
Although his work involved extensive travel, Lance was involved in his children's activities and community volunteering. After his retirement in 1985 he volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children (CASA), with Habitat for Humanity, the South Dakota Federation of the Blind, Canyon Lake Senior Citizens' Center, and the Journey Museum. He was a member and officer of Downtown Kiwanis. A favorite weekly activity was assisting third grade children at Bergquist School with reading.
The Beckers have been a host family for foreign students over many years and had an AFS "daughter" from France, Anne Decomble, for one school year. Lance and his wife enjoyed travel in the United States and abroad.
Lance was pre-deceased by his parents, his brother, Jerome, and his sister, Mildred Pritzl. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Irma, of Rapid City, a son, Lance D. Becker, of New Ulm, Minnesota; two daughters, Dr. Jane Becker, of Houston, Texas, and Lisa Smith and her husband Dr. David Smith, of McLean, Virginia. Two grandchildren, Paul and Laura Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial celebration of Lance's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2005 at the Osheim Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City.
Memorials have been designated for the Nature Conservancy, Arlington, Virginia, and the Journey Museum in Rapid City.
