HIGHLANDS COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB

HCARC meeting minutes:  Monday, March 17, 2008

1. John Bliss, KF4IZT, called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
2. Frank Hutchins, W2MAV, led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. Introductions were made.  
4. Minutes of the February 18, 2008 club meeting were read and approved.
5. Ed Porter Sr, Club Treasurer, reported that club funds total $5,848.28 
    and that the 2008 Hamfest netted $508.91 after all expenses.
6. Randy Payne, K4EZM gave an ARES update.  The mid-Florida counties of Polk, Highlands, 
   Hardee and  DeSoto have been combined into a new District with Ben Henley as District Coordinator.
7. Fred Seely reported that Field Day plans are proceeding.  Callsign K4W has been requested and approved.
8. John Bliss summarized upcoming bike rallies:
    Apr 5 & 6  Tandem Ride
    Apr 25 & 26  Everglades Bike Club
    Apr 26 & 27  MS 150
9. John Bliss reported that the 2009 Hamfest will be held on February 21, 2009. 

Randy Payne, K4EZM gave a presentation on amateur satellite antennas and displayed a foam board antenna he built.

The meeting adjourned at 8:20 pm.
