Renaissance

To receive one of the following Renaissance Card, a student must have no unexcused absences and no discipline referrals:

PLATINUM Card: GPA of 4.0.
All absences excused and no discipline referrals.
GOLD Card: GPA of 3.8 - 3.999.
No D's or F's. All absences excused and no discipline referrals.
SILVER Card: GPA of 3.5 - 3.799.
No D's or F's. All absences excused and no discipline referrals.
BRONZE Card: GPA of 3.0 - 3.499.
No D's or F's. All absences excused and no discipline referrals.
High-Five Card: GPA increase of .5 from the previous grading period
(during the current school year).

Honor Society

The National Junior Honor Society is open to eligible students who meet the following criteria.

Student must be in the seventh or eighth grade.
Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.25.
Have NO discipline referrels for the current school year.
Complete and return, by a set deadline, a student activity form.
Have a minimum number of points on the teacher recommendation form.
Students must meet the guidelines as stated in the
National Junior Honor Society Handbook for: Leadership,
Service, Character, and Citizenship.

Students of the Month

Students of the Month will be selected by teachers from each grade level to recognize students
who show the following characteristics:

good citizenship
cooperation with faculty and administration
school spirit
respect for school property
service to the school
courtesy to fellow students

Super Streak

Sebring Chamber of Commerce Student of the Month: Each month, one eighth grade student is selected to represent Sebring Middle School at the Chamber's monthly breakfast meeting. The selected student receives a school certificate and a savings bond and his/her name is placed on a plaque that remains at the school. At the end of the year, one student from all those nominated during the year is chosen as Student of the Year. That student will receive a savings bond and a plaque.

Science Fair Winners

Check this spot often for the winners of 2000-2001 Science Fairs. Track your favorite scientist from campus level competition through district, regional, and state.

Sebring Middle School had 6 students receive first place at the regional-level fair which covered 5 counties. Out of eight regional students eligible for state, three SMS students were selected outright, one was chosen first alternate, and one chosen second alternate. One could say that SMS ruled this year at the Heartland Regional Science & Engineering Fair.
