Welcome! My research began in 1996. With no surviving ancestors, I felt compelled to search for 'family'. Years before, I sat down with parents and grandparents and tried to put together a family tree. We were unable to go further back than my great grandparents. This was my beginning.
The Internet opened a whole new world in genealogical research. I started with my name, Ankrom, which is not very common. I easily found it located in the same area [Frederick Co. MD -> Greene Co. PA -> Tyler Co., WV] since the 1700s and before that: (Ancrum) Roxburghshire, Scotland. My database now has over 58,000 individuals, including over 10,000 Ankroms. As my skills became more refined, I branched out into other ancestral surnames.
